Jonathan,

We have found that PI stains smooth muscle, adventitial and endothelial
cell nuclei with good selectivity (DNA over RNA) in 'fixed' sections of
blood vessels without the use of RNAse.  In our hands it's a great stain
for 'non-viable' cells.
