I know it would be crude, but one COULD ad a note later to the file that
contained the data (manual, I know, but it stay with the file and is easily
extracted later). This is one case where the ability to work with one
image whilst another is being gathered/waited for would be a simple
and slick case of 'multitasking' (NOT processor intensive, just operator
intensive). Perhaps SOM could be run simultaneously under Windows as
2 DOS tasks? The time interval sounds long, but even if it were short,
the data entry is not too tough.
Additionaly, the COMOS program by BioRad is a little slicker in the
overlay department (although the COMPLEX COMMANDS have been lost ---
so much for automation yeilding to 'point and shoot everything'; such
a waste for entertainment value). Perhaps a script could be developed
to add the notes quickly with a shell to DOS to do inital data entry
or .CMD alterations. This COULD spped the process.
I've used a 'community' MRC-500 upgraded to a 600 for several years now
and if the laser hold it's red channel under intense traffic, I'm
usually happy.
Best of luck!
