!!NEW DEAD LINE!!
-----------------
Due to the EURO 2004, we will have to change the 2nd deadline to the
10th of May, giving us more time for accommodation and travel scheduling.

Aims
-----
Advances in microscopy and electronics have opened new windows for
viewing live cells. New tools like spectral confocal, two-photon, fast
scanning and deconvolution are making it possible to learn from
biological systems as never before. This course will focus on imaging
living cells, one of the most demanding applications in microscopy.

Format
-------
The course will start on the 21th June at 4pm with a small reception
where you can pick up your course material. The work during the week is
divided into 14 hours of theoretical classes and 10 hours of practicals.
Two hours covering image processing will help you to have nice pictures
for a 15 min presentation showing what you have done in the practicals.
All this will be done before distribution of prizes for the best Ice
Breaker® and The Microscopist Dinner

Equipment
---------
Multiphoton with Bio-Rad MRC1024
Leica Spectral Confocal SP2 + AOBS (6 laser lines)
Zeiss Meta (with 405 solid state laser)
Nikon Confocal C1 Widefield
Leica IMDRE with Coolsnap HQ
Widefield Leica DMRA-2 with Cooled
CCD Zeiss Apotome (Pending)
Nikon TIRFM (Pending)

Projects
---------

Malaria parasite infection
High speed organelles in pollen tubes
FRAP
FRET (with fixed cells)
Drosophila Hemocytes

Speakers

António Jacinto Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (Portugal)
Guy Cox University of Sydney (Australia)
