This is the report of my suggestion (and offer) to post a weekly
reference list of the search "confocal" performed on Current Contents.
First I apologize for cluttering the mail. To say the least, it was a
quite a response. Final vote: 57 for, 8 against. So I asked ISI
(publisher of CC) if I was allowed to do it. The delay has been while we
discussed the matter. The answer is YES. I have a one-year "contract" to
post the results of the search. Their only request is that I
acknowledge the source, and tell people they can get the article from
The Genuine Article service. At the end of the year, they will make a
decision whether to continue (they are currently trying to figure out
their role on the internet).

TO THOSE WHO DO NOT WANT THIS MAIL. I will clearly mark the subject line
as "CONFOCAL REFS: <Date>". Please just delete it. This will NOT be a
tremendous amount of mail. The response recieved from my question plugged
the mail lines for a day, but was more mail than you will recieve from
this posting in a *year*. I will also be reformatting the references to
compact the files so they don't take much disk space, as suggested.

We will try to be consistent in sending references near the end of the
week, but our library does not always update on time (sometimes even
missing weeks) and we may have circumstances beyond our control (like my
RO1 renewal due next week...).

Hope you all enjoy it, and that ISI will continue to support us. If any
comments arise, for heaven's sake send them to me privately!
