Carl and Martin-
I doubt this.  It is well-known that mammalian cells exposed to the 
cold depolymerize all their microtubules.  The keratin network goes 
into a ball near the nucleus.  The work on microtubule depolymerization 
pre-dates my education in EM, so I don't remember the reference.  The 
work on the keratin collapse was published by Bob Goldman back in ~1970 
or the early-mid '70s.
