There is a possibility of imaging water.  I don't remember all the details,
but I feel it may be based on magnetic resonance.  Dr. Joel Swanson at
Univ. Michigan is developing a microscope to do this, and I recollect
hearing about it.  If you get in touch with him directly, maybe he is ready
to run some test specimens :)
