I thought I would pitch my 2 cents regarding online signups. Here at CBIT
we use a Java Applet that allows users to signup for each of our scopes up
to a week in advance. Users can select their time, objective and have their
slot password protected. Best of all, the applet is fully functional on ANY
browser that is Java compliant. You can see it here:

I guess there's no software available for this kind of purpose ( at least
specific for a multi-user facility), that's why we have been developing
starting from zero.
By the way, do you like the structure ?
PS:I don't know witch browser do you use but this don't support NS6. The
test version already does!!!

We use here and web based system in php-mysql on apache server. This will be
available for everyone when ready (but you need to have some computing
skills).
For now its not working for administration (ok its done but not tested
enough).
Where are the big advantages:
Automatically creates a calendar when you add a new resource
you can send an email for all people registered on a resource or in
a class
(ex: for every one that is register on microscopy)
Determinate the minimum and maximum time for each resource
Determinate the maximum days allowed for registration on each
resource
Enable a disable resources
A responsible technician that receives an email whenever he's
required
and much more

ps: there is just one big problem - I'll be on holidays at the end

our Imaging center was using the web site:my.palm.com as an easy
accesible website for allowing the users to book the instruments in our
facility. However, this website will be closed in January. I am asking
you now what other system you are using for booking of instruments in a
multiuser facility. Our users are located all over the university and
other institutions. They are using PCs, Macs, Windows, Unix, Linux and
whatever. So a web based booking system which we could implement in our
website would be the best solution. Any suggestions are wellcome.
