I'm sure this is the point.  Coherent say that their 'Vioflame' is
TEM00 mode which I assume means that the beam will be circular and
presumably low divergence.  Am I right in this assumption?

Certainly is a great resource - what I realy feel I need after
looking at it is a diagram of a diode laser construction - any
suggestions?
