A transmitted fluorescence microscope! Wow, I thought those things went out in the 60s. A colleague of mine was blinded in one eye by one ... (but I guess not using a halogen lamp!) Can you get any useful image from it?

Looking at the current website, the microscopes seem to be rather routine widefield transmitted light systems, in regular and 'tropical' varieties. They say that they all have Köhler illumination, which many other cheap systems don't, and that may be why some UK amateurs like them. From the look of them I'd guess that they are made in China.

As far as I can tell, it's "nothing more" than a transmitted
fluorescence microscope that doesn't use a mercury bulb. It depends
on the blue emission from a bright halogen bulb for things like DAPI.
There seems to be an amateur microscopy community in the UK that uses
G&S microscopes - someone in Old Blighty might have more information
(Keith?).
