I have to comment on this, as I invited all the speakers on this list.
When I started organizing, I had five women (ok, this is only 20%) , 
perfectly fitting into the topics of this conference on the list, but 
unluckily none of them was free for a talk during the conference time.
I totally agree with all the points Ulrike brought up in her mail, about 
the difficulties woman are facing in research.
Looking at the registration up to now, we are running currently at 
around 30% women, which registered to the meeting.

At least in my own lab, the Life Imaging Center 
(http://www.imaging.uni-freiburg.de/team.php), woman are in the majority 
2/3.
And looking at our 320 users per year in the imaging center, women or at 
almost 50%, so times are changing, but clearly this is a slow process.
