I had the honor of attending the QFM several years ago. Top notch instruction (both academic and industry) and all the latest devices. Great camaraderie among students and staff. I made some great contacts there that last to today. And, I must add, that area of Maine is breathtakingly beautiful (Acadia National Park is a bike ride away, for instance).

Good morning everyone I just wanted to let you know that enrollment for QFM this year is still open. The course runs from May 16th-22nd at the Mount Desert Island Biological Labs in Arcadia National Park in Maine and we still have slots unfilled. The toys this year continue to increase in number and are directed towards our continued interest in cutting edge approaches. They include all types of confocal, live cell, and wide field machines from all the major vendors (Leica, Zeiss, Nikon, and Olympus). Software solutions include all the company specific platforms as well as Metamorph and Imaris. These devices are supported by the best group of industry faculty anywhere!
This year we will be making a bigger plunge into Super-Resolution methods, and will have STORM,PALM, GSD approaches available as well as the very cool and just introduced Leica 3X STED (for the uninitiated this allows STED quality resolution in all three axes not just x and y) of course you will be welcome as usual to bring your own specimens to try out on this and all the other systems.
If you or any of your colleagues are interested in course content, faculty or would like to enroll please go to
