We are experiencing some problems with horizontal high frequency banding
across our image screen when running the confocal. The banding is a
series of light and dark bands which cut across the screen from one end
to the other. It doesn't seem to be a result of vibration. It could
possibly be line noise or from the laser power supply or other
electrical noise. We have a small surge protector on the electrical
line.

Has anyone else experienced these problems?

YES! We experienced lines of equal distance apart and found
that to be a laser alignment problem - not inside the scan
head but in the laser itself. We also had problems with
lines of very erratic widths and brightnesses which appears
to have gotten better since we put the scanhead and
computer on separate line conditioners. We were told that
it was and electrical problem with the building. Small
surge protectors didn't seem to eleviate the problem.
