In reply to people having problems with horizontal bands on their screen
when using a BioRad MRC 600 confocal microscope.

I have found out by accident (when moving the confocal to another floor)
that the connection between the scan head and the computer (the 4 black
plugs) can be connected incorrectly (the two small plugs can be swapped
over). Surprisingly one can still get a reasonable image (with somewhat
lowered sensitivity) BUT it does result in horizontal lines that come and go
depending on the day.

Try swapping the small black plugs over and see if you get an improvement.
