Hi Sarah,

I successfully set-up a Patch clamp/ Laser scanning confocal system when I
was a professor at UCSD. We had an EPC-9 for single-channel and whole cell
patch recording in combination with a scanning confocal using a 100 mW Ar/Kr
laser. The laser and power supply were physically and electrically isolated
from the recording site on the confocal. We routinely performed a
combination of patch rcording along with confocal imaging.

Good luck!

Hi-
Not really a confocal question, but here goes:
I'm upgrading our confocal so I'm thinking about rearranging the room
while everything is down. I came up with a new arrangement but wanted
some advice because the new scheme would position the laser (Melles
Griot Omnichrome Ar/Kr) next to our electrophysiology equipment. Would
the laser power supply interfere with electrical recordings in any way?
Anyone with insight into possible noise problems should contact me
directly. I only have a week to make up my mind about this so please
let me know ASAP!
Thanks-
Sarah
