Science jobs from Italian Institute of Technology: job description

Following an agreement between the Italian Institute of Technology and
the University of Genova (Italy), a call for a three-year Doctoral
School on “Life and Humanoid Technologies” has been opened. The
Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) is a research institution in
Italy that is currently in an advanced startup phase. The fellowships
assigned by IIT to the University of Genova are part of the start-up
strategy of the Institute and have the specific goal of forming the
first generation of IIT’s research fellows. Following the start of the
research labs at the IIT’s Headquarters in Genova, the PhD program
supported by IIT is organized in a doctoral school on “life and
humanoid technologies”, and is organised in the following 4 courses:

1) Neuroscience and Brain Technologies (10 fellowships available)
2) Drug Discovery (8 fellowships available)
3) Robotics, Cognition and Interaction Technologies (25 fellowships
available)
4) Nanosciences (20 fellowships available)

Each course offers research topics proposed by the research directors
and by their senior collaborators. The candidates are asked to outline
a research proposal of their choice with explicit reference to the
theme proposed. The soundness of the proposal will be part of the
evaluation process and will be considered preferential for the choice
of the individual scientific theme that will be made jointly by the
tutor and by the candidate. Details on the courses, the official text
of the call that describes the application procedure, and the
application form can be found at:

http://www.studenti.unige.it/postlaurea/dottorati/ciclo25/bando_iit_en/

More details on IIT are available on the IIT web site:

http://www.iit.it/en/home.html.

The deadline for application is 25th September 2009
