You might want to double-check with your deparment to make sure they're 
OK with that.  IANAL, but my layman's understanding of copyright law is 
that works for hire, such as code you are paid to write, are the 
property of the employer and thus not yours to do with as you please.

But don't take my word for it.  Find out for sure (from your boss and/or 
a lawyer).  Usually no one will care, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
