Core Manager of Optical Imaging Facility The Center for Blood Research, a Harvard Medical School affiliated research institute, seeks a full time Core Manager of a multi-photon/confocal microscopy, cell sorting and flow cytometry facility. Take charge of operating our state-of-the-art facility which is currently under construction as a multi-user facility. You will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of all major facility equipment which includes a custom-modified BioRad Radiance 2000MP confocal microscopy system with SpectraPhysics Ti/S laser and two Olympus microscopes, a Coulter Epics cell sorter and a Beckton Dickinson FACScan flow cytometer. Initial in-depth training will be provided by the manufacturerers and internal specialists. You will also provide expert service, support and training to CBR scientists as it relates to the execution of experiments that utilize the facility. Minimally a BS, MS or equivalent degree is required. Experience in at least one of the following areas is strongly preferred: immunofluorence microscopy; multi-color flow cytometry; sterile cell sorting; intravital microscopy and mammalian tissue culture techniques. The successful candidate should have strong computer skills including knowledge of Windows NT, Macintosh and image analysis/processing. Experience in the setup, use and maintenance of laser technology is a plus. Excellent communication skills, a desire to provide competent support to facility users with multiple research interests and diverse backgrounds as well as previous management, supervisory experience preferred.
