How about this: place the specimen on a hard surface (e.g. a glass 
slide).  Poke it with a glass micropipette.  That should leave a small 
hole in the tissue embedded with glass shards.  You'll probably need a 
micromanipulator to do this right but any slice electrophysiologist 
should be able to help you out.
