Molecular Probes has produced 8 Focal check spectral beads with 4 pairs
of fluorophores. Each pair has wavelength maxima that are separated by
13 to 36 nm between 500 and 700 nm.
These beads can be used to evaluate the spectral reproducibility of
confocal systems such as the Nikon C1Si, Olympus FV1000, Leica SP and
Zeiss Meta 510; and non confocal systems such as PARISS, SKY and CRI.
They can also be used for spectral mixing studies.
We have recently published a paper in Cytometry entitled “ Reliability
of Confocal Microscopy Spectral Imaging Systems: Use of Multispectral
beads” Cytometry 71A 174-189 2007 which describes some application of
these beads to test various spectral imaging systems.
