The University of Bristol wishes to recruit a Cell Imaging Facility 
Technician to provide assistance in the running of this busy multi-user 
facility housed in the School of Medical Sciences. The successful applicant 
will work closely with the manager (Dr Mark Jepson) and with other facility 
personnel to offer support to the broad range of users of our imaging 
equipment (including Leica confocal and fluorescence microscopes) and 
off-line analysis workstations.

The post is available until 30th June 2008 as replacement for a technician 
taking a career break. If successful, opportunities for further funding can 
be explored to extend the appointment beyond this fixed-term contract.

You will have knowledge and, preferably, hands-on experience of 
fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, image analysis and/or the use 
of fluorescence techniques in cell biology. You will assist with 
maintenance of the microscopes, training, trouble-shooting, data archiving 
and general laboratory duties.

Research carried out within the Cell Imaging Facility covers a wide range 
of biological and medical sciences, including cell biology, cell 
signalling, microbiology, plant biology and biomaterials. You will have 
training in a relevant biomedical science subject to degree level in order 
to understand the requirements of our broad range of users.
