Hi Yi-
I have experienced the "Failed to connect to real time controller" problem
twice in the past two months on my Zeiss 510 Meta.
There is a secondary computer or controller in the large module that
contains the lasers and electronics. This secondary computer is connected
to the Windows computer by an internet cable. When you start the Windows
program, you should see at the bottom right of the monitor on one of the
icons a message indicating "Real Time Connection/Speed 1Gbps/Status
Connected"
The first time I experienced the "Failed to connect to real time
controller", the icon on the Windows screen also indicated that the Real
Time Connection was Not Connected. That time I could not get the system to
work without a service call.
The second time, the icon on the Windows screen indicated that the Real Time
Connection was still Connected at 1Gbps. If I shut down the system for
30-60 minutes (5 or 10 minutes wouldn't work), then I could get the system
back up and working. It was as though there was a heating issue or
something.
In both cases, the final solution was for Zeiss to replace that secondary
computer in the electronics module. The system worked fine after that.
Hope this helps-
