The Institute of Medical Biology (IMB <http://www.imb.a-star.edu.sg/>) a
Singapore government-funded research institute under the Agency for Science,
Technology and Research (A*STAR), was formed in 2007 to promote
translational research into the mechanisms underlying human disease. IMB
research activities include stem cells and differentiation, cancer, skin and
epithelial biology and genetic diseases. Situated in a lively international
community on the iconic Biopolis campus, IMB scientists work together with
biologists, engineers, clinicians and industry in state-of-the-art
facilities. Our goal is to achieve a better understanding of human health
and disease, leading to the development of novel therapeutic strategies for
improved quality of life.

IMB has the following position available for the IMB Microscopy Unit:

* Microscopy Officer***

The IMB Microscopy Unit (IMU) <http://www.imb.a-star.edu.sg/imu/index.html> is
a core technology platform of IMB whose mission is to provide optical
imaging and image analysis tools with expertise to facilitate research in
molecular, cell and developmental biology. In addition to standard
widefield and confocal microscopy IMU focuses on 5 areas of advanced optical
imaging: (1) 3D imaging (2) F-techniques (3) High content imaging (4)
Live-cell imaging, and (5) Image analysis & processing.

Duties and responsibilities:

· Train, advise and support users in the application of various
microscopy techniques to biomedical research; from basic microscopy
(brightfield, contrast enhancing techniques, widefield fluorescence and
confocal) to advanced microscopy (F-techniques, 3D imaging, live-cell
imaging, super-resolution microscopy) and quantitative image analysis

· Liaise with the manufacturers for repairs, upgrades and application
support

· Organise international workshops, courses and conferences

· Develop collaborative research projects with research staff

· Trouble-shoot, provide basic maintenance and upkeep of microscope
