NIH Proposes Model for New Translational Science Center

A National Institutes of Health (NIH) Task Force recently released a
“straw model” for the relocation of programs currently residing in the
National Center for Research Resources (NCRR). The task force was
created after recommendations were made by the NIH Scientific
Management Review Board to establish a new NIH National Center for
Advancing Translational Sciences, which would dissolve the NCRR. In
announcing the model, Lawrence A. Tabak, D.D.S., Ph.D., co-chair of
the task force, encouraged feedback from the research community noting
that the model is “designed to be poked at.” Tabak will present the
model to the NCRR Advisory Council in a meeting to be webcast on
January 25.
