Hi Louis,

We use Image-Pro Plus with a Nikon Digital Sight cooled colour camera and a Photometrics Evolve and both are controlled well with IPP.

If you have a look at the MediaCy site here: http://www.mediacy.com/index.aspx?page=capture_support you will find a range of supported cameras.

If you are looking for a colour camera, I'm sure there is a huge range of good cameras available. We have been very happy with our Nikon camera for all types of imaging - brightfield, phase contrast, HMC and fluorescence. Not sure what the pricing would be now for an equivalent camera.

However, assuming you are talking Canadian dollars, I would think you could get a very good camera for 5-6k especially if you don’t need to do fluorescence imaging as well, i.e. you may not need cooling.

If you can try before you buy, all the better.

Kind regards,

Jacqui

Hi Louis, just as a data point, we use cameras from QImaging driven by Image Pro software. We are pleased with their quality and service support. You will need a camera that has Image Pro supported drivers as stated previously. Given these criteria the budget you listed may be difficult to work with. You may want to entertain the possibility of purchasing a demo camera with a warranty.
Cheers,

I second Xuejun's comment on demoing any camera you plan to buy. Depending
on your sample and the scope you can get very different results with
cameras that actually look similar on paper!
