Dear colleagues,

It is our pleasure to announce the 15th annual meeting of the European Light
Microscopy Initiative (ELMI),
to take place in Sitges, near Barcelona, from the 19th to 22nd May 2015.

The venue is Hotel Melià Sitges, located in one of the most touristic
coastal villages of the Mediterranean, thanks to its charm and tranquillity.

ELMI was first set up in 2001 in order to promote the quickly developing
field of light microscopy as a fundamental research tool for the life
sciences and to strengthen the channels of communication between researchers
and industry. The annual ELMI meeting, which has been running for the last
14 years at various venues across Europe, has an excellent reputation which
is strongly recognized within the microscopy community, making this meeting
a key event in the yearly meeting calendar of hundreds of scientists and
developers.

The strength of this meeting lies in the mixture of plenary scientific
lectures on state-of-the-art, high-end microscopy combined with “hands-on”
workshops and exhibition of the latest technology, organized by the leading
companies in the field.

In 2015 we will maintain the format and focus on leading edge developments
and their implementation for life science. We will bring the participants to
a small village close to Barcelona, in Sitges, where social interactions
will extend beyond the day-schedule of the meeting, and where participants
will be accommodated in the Venue hotel or at walking distance..

We here provide a preliminary list of topics that will be covered during the
meeting:

· Optogenetics
· EM-ultraresolved & correlative microscopy
· Biomechanics
· Functional and multi-spectral imaging
· Biological nanoscopy
· Lightsheet & mesoscopic imaging
· Image analysis workflows & intelligent microscopy
· Cancer & biomedical imaging
· Emerging model organisms

The following speakers have accepted to give talks at the Meeting:

· Rafael YUSTE, Columbia University (NY, USA)
· Michalis AVEROF, Institut de Génomique fonctionelle de Lyon (France)
· Juliette AZIMZADEH, Institut Jacques Monod (Paris, France)

Registration:

http://www.elmi2015.eu/

We encourage the participants to register soon as the two last editions of
the ELMI meetings reached their registration limit very early during the
registration period.
Booking of accommodation at the meeting venue can be done during the
registration process.

Core Facility Satellite Meeting:

Preceding the meeting, on May 19th, there will be a special session about
Imaging Core Facilities (e.g. Management, Maintenance, Image Analysis
etc...). This is organized by ELMI and more info will follow. There will be
no extra charge for this pre-meeting.

We look forward to meeting you all and working with you for a successful
meeting at ELMI 2015.

Yours sincerely,

Julien Colombelli and Timo Zimmermann (organisers)
