Hi confocalists,

If you use or are thinking of using AVS to process Leica
confocal output, I have some good news.

After spending years running programs from the command
line to manually convert 3D Leica datasets to AVS field
files, I finally wrote a module to read the Leica data
directly in. I would be happy to make it available for anyone
who is interested, either as source code or binary (for
the platforms I have access to.) Please e-mail me directly
if you're interested. It will also eventually be available
by ftp from the International AVS Center (avs.ncsc.org), but
not yet.

Details: The module parses the important values from
the .info file, and reads from the images directly, w/o use
of an any intemediate AVS .fld files. Real world dimensions
have not been plugged in yet, but may be eventually. BTW, If
you are using the AVS ray tracer you may still need the
scalemat module to rescale the z-axis. (I can provide
this too).
