I have also routinely used UVP but they have recently ceased trading, at
least in the UK.  Osram sells an XB075/2 OSF (ozone free) bulb in the UK
for =A3121 (about $180).  Incidentally, I am surprised at the price you cite
for the Ushio lamp because Nikon UK sells this lamp for =A3140 (about $210).
 
I think the guaranteed life of these lamps is circa 300 hours but the
thought of losing the UV condenser in the Diaphot is rather worrying!
