Happy Pagan New Year!
 
I hear that Leica is pretty impressive.  I was told they just installed
three confocals at the NIH.  Did Leica give you the names of the folks
there who bought the 'scopes?  Perhaps you could speak to them and find out
how easily (or not) the interface is with analytical software.
