Well, I know that NIH-Image, for one, is a program which allows you to save
multiple-slice data sets in the TIFF format. These files are similar to
Bio-Rad .PIC z-series files in that you can extract the individual files
from these "stacks". You choose either the TIFF or PICS format (PICS is a
multiple PICT format) when saving a stack.
