Steve Kempf reported problems on making Mac-compatible
QT movies from SGI images.

There may be other solutions, but i've resorted to converting
all SGI .rgb or .img files to 32-bit Mac .pict images using
the SDSC imtools 'imconv' tool. After binary ftp to a Mac,
convert the file TYPE and CREATOR tags to PICT and something
appropriate, like 8BIM (for photoshop) or Imag (NIH Image- tho
NIH image will not open 32bit picts).

With 2 shareware/freeware utilities PictsToMovie and FlattenMoovie,
i create a flattened movie that can served for Web distribution.
(the Mac's resource fork must be flattened before transfer to
a unix http server and makes the QT movies more accessible).

From PictsToMovie, just select the first image from the folder
of consecutively named files and set the parameters. i usually
use the highest quality. After the movie is created, it can
be viewed on the Mac but before viewing on SGI, it should be
flattened using FlattenMoov. In this form, it can be viewed
by xanim on the SGI or MoviePlayer.

The reason for my creating QT movies on the Mac and SGI is that
i also ran into problems playing SGI-created QT movies. And
they are much bigger than the Mac-created versions.

PS for QT movies of reconstructed, blind deconvolved datasets
using the above methods for QT construction:
