Ricky Critcher asks about the Ultra Long Life Kr/Ar laser mentioned in
our recent advertisements. This laser has been developed as a part of
Bio-Rad's continuing commitment to improved performance and
reliability. This water cooled 60 mW laser has warranted lifetime of
4,500 hours and features self aligning mirrors. Please contact your
local Bio-Rad sales representative for further information.

We apologise for the interruptions to Dr Critcher's research due to
the sub-standard performance of the lasers on his system and assure
all of our users that we are committed to prompt and efficient
     service.

Hi all.

In May I posted some concerns about the lifetime of the Kr\Ar laser on
our Bio-Rad MRC 600, and I thought you may be intersested in a follow up.

After purchasing another extended guarantee to cover lasers, the old one
was replaced with a refurbished laser. We have consequently gone through
3 of these, the last 2 lasers lasting 150 and twenty hours respectivly.

We have just had a new laser installed. It has been suggested I run a
sweep to see how long this lasts.

ps Did anyone see the ad. in last weeks Nature describing the 1024 with
an 'ultra long life Kr\Ar laser'? I have yet to find anyone from Bio-Rad
who can tell me anything about it!
