Does anyone out there utilize a piezo-electric device to facilitate
scanning in the z-direction. I understand that Leica used to produce a
product that did this, but were not particularly successful with the
design.

Any information regarding producers of such stages or customized
versions would be appreciated.

Also are there inherent problems with using this method to speed up
z-scan image acquisition, and what problems did Leica encounter (if in
fact they did have problems)?

Thanks
