I have a Yamaha 4X CD-R Writer which will write a full 650MB in 20 mins.
The media costs $7/disk. I purchased the Yamaha Writer in a mini tower
with a 1GB Hard Disk for $2,500. The unit is portable (moves between image
acquisition stations with ease). I partitioned the HD into a 650MB
partition for data (capacity of the CD-Rom) and 350MB for software, so the
CD-R Writer software goes with the Writer, along with disk utilities, etc.
Very convenient.
I highly recommend this approach.
