We have SONY 2x CD-R drive (sold by a company with the reassuring name
"Smart and Friendly" (situated in CA.) This has a 1 Mb buffer which
prevents underrun situations except if you disturb the PC (like inserting
a CD in the other CD-drive (win95)). Regarding the temp space for holding
files for the CD, (on a PC) 650 Mb is not enough if you are dealing with
small files, since the disk is formatted with 12 or 16 Kb filehandles (if
that is the right name). This means that all files take up space in
chunks this size. Effectively, it means that a temp partion of 750 Mb is
more likely to hold the contents of a 650 Mb CD (where the filehandles
are 2 K in size). Just wanted to mention it before you start partioning
your harddrive. (I also made a 650 Mb partition at first but soon found
out that it could only hold 530-600 Mb. The CD-R software should take
care of things if you try to pile up too much anyway).
