This is indeed the case for all the Zeiss software. I find the manual that
comes with the microscope really appaling. Since I tried to get in touch with
Zeiss in Germany I am still waiting for a response. I only had two questions,
one regarding the apparent change in the size of the Zeiss tiff tag in recent
versions of LSM.EXE and secondly I wanted some informations about the
possibility of running the LSM software under NT (we had problems with
system crashes and lost good data we had written to a RAM disk for speed).

I think the users should point out to Zeiss that poor service/documentation
with regard to control software significantly weakens the position of the
product in a competitive market. I hope that potential future users of confocal
microscopes read this message and bug their sales representatives with regard
to these problems.

Best regards,

  Christian Soeller
