Dear Mary

In a pico second system there will be less of problem of group velocity
dispersion (GVD) reducing peak power for 2-photon excitation. This is because
the spectral bandwidth of such a laser is much narower. This does not mean that
a femtosecond system will work so well because the GVD associated with a fibre
coupling will be much larger. However, a pico second system may not have
sufficient peak power for good 2 photon excitation... We'll have to see at
Cleveland!

Many Regards
