Can you pulse the driving current?  I seem to recall problems with
constant negative current but when pulsing the current dyes are more
likely to be successfully injected by iontophoresis.  Just an idea.

Are there any possible problems with buffer incompatability with these
two dyes?  Might any of the dyes be interacting with the buffer, or
other ionic species in solution?
