Dear Mark,
Collodion is a polymer frequently used in electron microscopy to improve
membranes or coatings. It is available from a lot of suppliers for EM
accessories. Solutions of collodion in amylacetate are also called:
Parlodion.
I guess that Agar Scientific, Cambridge UK, can deliver this but I am
not sure. I have here in front Agar news, dated july 1994, it has a
tel: (0279)813519 a telex 81667 anda fax: (0279) 818106
I have an other out dated refrences: from EMS, electrom microscopy
sciences, 321 Morris rd, Box 251 Fort Washington, PA 19034 with
tel: 1-800-523-5874
IN pa:(215) 646-1566
Fax in PA 215 646-8931
This references is still older (catalog 1989/90),
refering to the storage of data for not more than 5 years, it is perhaps
interesting to hear if this information is still relevant. They sale 5%
solutions of collodion in 25% alcohol, 75% ether or a 2% solution in amyl
acetate. Vials of 100 ml, catalog number 12600 and 12620 prices: 5 or
18dollars.
Much success, I will be happy to hear if this information is still
usefull. It will prove the value of my aversion for cleaning and sorting
out old material.
Greetings,
Patrick
