It is possible to use cheap cameras like Cohu 3815 to integrate for
several frame times.  If you can not integrate and do not want to use a
noisy intensifier then I think you should look for a camera with the highest
quantum efficiency.  SITE back thinned chips have high QE and Kodak has
a new chip with ~85% QE called KAF1410E or similar.  Has anyone tried
these and found there is a usable increase in sensitivity for
fluorescence microscopy?
