If anyone does find a source from which uranyl glass is still available
I hope they will send it to the List, since I'm sure I am only one of
many who would like to buy some.

What we use at present is fluorescent acrylic plastic made for the
sign-making industry, which is at least cheap and readily available,
though being a commercial grade product one cannot guarantee the
degree of uniformity which a product from an optical glass company
would give.

We use plastic from two sources - a local manufacturer and Rohm. Both
use the BASF dyes Lumogen Yellow (a good match for FITC), Lumogen Red
(ditto TRITC) and Lumogen Violet (which we use to standardise when
measuring DAPI & Hoechst - but not of course in confocal).

Emission peaks are quoted as 578 (Lumogen yellow) 600 (Lumogen red) and
426 (Lumogen violet). I don't guarantee these figures are valid
when using laser and/or Hg lamp excitation.
