I wouldn't suggest plant cells to test anything.  That darn cell wall makes permeabilization an issue, also the physiology is very different than animal cells, making many dies useless. 

I am interested in the gold fish in a glass bit though!  Maybe we can get more information on that?  If they're casting off cells, there is no stress to the animal, and fewer holes in people's fingers.
