1999 INNOVATION AWARDS
Deadline for Nominations: May 17, 1999

The Nonprofits' Policy and Technology (NPT) Project at OMB
Watch announces its Call for Nominations for the 1999
Innovation Awards. The Innovation Awards highlight
organizational technology strategies used by nonprofit
organizations in public policy activities that demonstrate
effectiveness, innovation, and lessons learned. Monetary
awards range from $1000 to $3000.

Seven winners were chosen in 1998 for their effective use
of technology to engage citizens in public policy
activities. The grand prize award to Bethphage (Omaha, NE)
honored their very effective use of technology in their
organizing campaign for people with developmental
disabilities. Other awards to model projects that
integrate technology tools with their policy campaigns
went to: the Judge David L. Bazelon Center for Mental
Health Law (Washington, DC), Libraries for the Future (New
York, NY), the Roger Baldwin Foundation of ACLU, Inc.
(Chicago, IL), the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, TVW
(Olympia, WA), and the Utility Consumers' Action Network
(UCAN) (San Diego, CA).
