Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, I've got a job posting for the list. Please
forward this on to anyone you think might be interested. The Hotchkiss
Brain Institute at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada is looking
for an Optogenetics and/or Biophotonics staff scientist. You can find a
bit more out about the HBI at http://hbi.ucalgary.ca/. Here's the
advertisement for the position:

OPTOGENETICS / BIOPHOTONICS
STAFF SCIENTIST POSITION
A position for a staff scientist is available immediately for a highly
qualified
individual to support neuroscience researchers at the Hotchkiss Brain
Institute
(HBI) in developing optogenetics technology. The applicant must have a solid
engineering/physics background with experience in optics, microscopy and
image processing/analysis, with a particular emphasis on the technical
requirements related to optogenetics applications. In addition, there will
be
opportunity to conduct collaborative research projects with various groups
at the
HBI focused on advanced biophotonics applications including coherent anti-
Stokes Raman scattering (CARS), stimulated emission depletion (STED),
polarization 2-photon microscopy, coherent control of ultrabroadband pulses,
etc...
The successful applicant will work in a collaborative capacity with a
number of
HBI labs to lead in the design and assist in the implementation (including
associated training of personnel) of the hardware necessary to grow the
biophotonics capabilities in general, and optogenetics in particular, at the
Institute. He/she will have access to a broad range of sophisticated
instruments
and will have the opportunity to engage in the design and construction of
new
hardware/software to develop unique and customized imaging capabilities.
Located at the Foothills Medical Campus, University of Calgary, Alberta, the
Hotchkiss Brain Institute (www.hbi.ucalgary.ca/) is home to over 100
neuroscientists working on various aspects of basic and applied
neurobiology,
creating a highly stimulating, multidisciplinary and vibrant research
environment.
Please send a cover letter, CV and names of 3 references to Dr. Peter K.
Stys
([log in to unmask]).
